The Art of Being Yourself
Art becomes more meaningful when it's about expression. It's so easy to get caught up in comparing our work to others', wondering if we're doing enough, if we're different enough, or if we're heading in the right direction. The most authentic work comes from the moments when we let go of all expectations and simply create what feels true to ourselves.
Be yourself, unapologetically. Don't worry about what others are thinking or doing. Concentrate on your own thoughts and actions. Don't worry about what the algorithms expect from you or how many likes you'll get. Vanity metrics kill creativity. Embrace imperfection over approval, quality over quantity, and process over prompting. Make it 100% authentically you. Create only what fuels and inspires you. Be in that moment.
I chose the photo above of the Cherry Plum Blossom in early Spring because it's a great reminder that true uniqueness and growth come from within and make you shine. There will always be trends to chase, opinions to consider, and voices telling us what art should look like. But, imagine what it could look like. The trick is learning to quiet the noise so you can make space for your own thoughts. The things that make your perspective unique are the same things that give your work its value. Nobody else can do what you do. You are irreplaceable. So, create what excites you, follow your curiosity, and trust that being yourself will always serve you better than trying to be someone else.
"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken."
